Clay has become a way of weaving the many interests in my life into one concise effort to explore and examine my world. At first glance my pots might suggest a straightforward functional aesthetic. While this is very much at the center of what I am doing with clay, my process and approach has grow from a fascination with how making pots connects me to my past and my familial history. My inspiration for many of the forms I approach comes directly from antique jugs, jars and containers, giving my work a simple yet refined appeal. Without recreating entirely, I allow ruminations on these forms and their former uses guide my work. Much of what connects me to my past and my family history is what guides my way of life, as much as it guides my pots.
